Everything Positively New Orleans

My Nola Experience

My Nola Experience

Apr 27, 2011

When I first arrived in New Orleans to go to school I was extremely nervous. I heard about Mardi Gras, and how wild the city was, and little did I know it was all true! Between the food, and the music, something is always going on in New Orleans. There are festivals that celebrate just about everything. Po-boy fest, Voodoo Music Experience, Mardi Gras, French Quarter fest, Jazz fest, there are literally too many to list. I also realized how relaxed and friendly the people down here are.

Nothing can beat the food though; Cajun spices, crawfish, po-boys, beignets, and Boudain balls. And then you have restaurants like Camellia Grill, Café du Monde, and Jacques-imo’s that cannot be passed up. You really feel part of the culture when you come to New Orleans. Most of the houses are these bright colors with intricate moldings, that look as if they have been around forever.

The music scene is unbelievable. New Orleans will make you a fan of jazz. No matter what day of the week it is, there will be some place playing live music. I’ve fallen in love with this city and I’m so happy I get to spend the rest of my college experience discovering what else New Orleans has to offer.
