The new year is under way and its time for one of our favorite events, Uniquity. Uniquity is a monthly event hosted by emcee Slangston Hughes featuring the best and brightest in Hip-Hop, Spoken Word and R&B performers, accompanied by New Orleans’ own live jazz band, Fo On The Flo. The event takes on both newcomers and seasoned veterans with former artist such as Heata Best, Macniffy and Jakie Skellz.
New Orleans’ Hip-Hop community has its fair share of legends, pioneers and daily torchbearers. However, the 2012 Uniquity year begins by showcasing several of the city’s upcoming emcees with shining performances by featured artists E.D. Nix, Tyger Da Goddess and DY with the Awayteam’s DJ RQ Away spinning.
