This time last week the City of New Orleans gave tribute to the cocktail. With wonderful events, seminars, and food all around town with main headquarters in our very own Hotel Monteleone staged on the walk-able Royal Street. People from as far as China to just one street over came to partake in a cultural experience like no other. This year’s festivities personally brought me through a great time surrounding whiskey, cognac, bitters and liquers. I took a journey that brought me through an educational experience to bring a better understanding to the spirits that many of us locals partake in each day.
While at Tales of the Cocktail, I had a chance just to people watch and see everyone’s enjoyment of being in New Orleans. Getting to experience our culture, food, as well as the cocktails. Throughout the week, I heard comments from people enjoying the old architecture of the city, the friendly locals, and just the excitement to experience a different culture.
Even as a resident of the city such festivals as this make you realize just how much there is to explore in this city from new restaurants and music to more. During Tales of the Cocktail, I had the chance to experience Criollo Restaurant, Ernest Café and The Chicory. While at Tales of the Cocktail, I had a chance to learn more about Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey, Luxardo, Cognac, and more.
To see more of my fun from Tales of the Cocktail; Check out Minority Weirdos next week for special recipes and special lessons on spirits.
